I need a translation. What’s the best way to submit my documents?
The best way to send us documents is via e-mail and in Word. Excel, Power point, rtf, html, xml, pdf and other Adobe files can be translated as well. We respect the original layout. If the layout changes due to conversion problems, we notify you at the start of the project, so we can look for a solution together. If your website needs translating, you can just send us the URL or a temporary cms login.
How is the price determined?
The price per translation is calculated via a computer analysis of the word count in the source text. This means you know the price before translation starts. The price remains the same per word for commercial copy, technical documents, software strings, etc. Every language pair has its own price per word. For medical text, we make a custom quote (+ €0.01 extra per word). See our price list or get your non-binding personal quote.
For an additional fee KDV – Language & More also offers a number of extra services:
- Transcreation or creative rewording for marketing copy
- SEO translation: keyword analysis in various languages
- SEO translation: input cms and online testing
The price of (SEO) copywriting, from scratch, is calculated at a set hourly rate. From interview, keyword analysis, to copywriting (incl. internal links and meta tags) and 1 round of revision in 7 working days. Check out our working method here.
How long does a translation take?
KDV – Language & More puts quality before speed. We do not perform miracles, but we do aim to excel in our field. Your copy is not reworked by machines, but by passionate language enthusiasts. That makes for more possibilities.
To give you an idea: a professional translator translates an average of 2,000 words a day, depending on the field. After translation, your translated copy passes the critical eye of a reviewer. During this process spelling, grammar and terminology is revised. The reviewing happens at a speed of 1,500 words an hour. The whole process, from quote to completion, is closely managed by 1 project manager – your contact person.
Who will translate my copy?
All our translators are native speakers. As native speakers they have a unique command of the language they are translating to, as well as the source language. They are all specialised and experienced in their respective fields. Our technical translators are proficient in the necessary professional expertise as engineers, chemists or analysts, and have been retrained as translators.
KDV – Language & More delivers premium quality translations and handles your documents with complete confidentiality. For more info, read our general terms & conditions.
How do I save on translation fees?
There is a lot to the process of translating a copy. From quote to completion to guarding terminology. From project manager to translator to reviewer and back to project manager. We stick to our highly structured process for both large and small projects. Of course a translation of 20,000 words will get a better rate than a 500 word translation.
Don’t forget that government grants are issued for translations above a certain word total. Contact us for more info.
We don’t have an urgency fee and don’t carry any extra cost for file conversions to translatable files. Choosing KDV – Language & More means saving as is.
What languages does KDV – Language & More translate to?
We translate to more than 20 languages: from Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese to other European languages, such as Greek. We also translate to and from Turkish, Arabic, Scandinavian languages (Swedish, Finnish, Norse, Danish) and Eastern European languages (Russian, Bulgarian, Polish…). Our language span also ranges to Chinese and Japanese.
What is the price for repetitions?
The total word count of your copy is calculated via an analysis run by our translation software Trados. This handy tool also allows us to keep a personal translation memory for each customer. Trados retains source segments from earlier translations. And segments recognised by Trados, lower the price. Up to 30% off the standard word price.
Trados is not an automatic translation tool – nonetheless, a welcome tool to our translators. In short: a faster, quality translation and a consistent use of terminology guaranteed.
When do I pay my project?
Approx. a week after you receive your translated copy, you’ll receive our invoice via e-mail. Our payment term is 30 calendar days.
What is the difference between a translation and a transcreation?
Creative writing or transcreating is more than a simple text translation. The translator juggles language creatively. Transcreation is not a literal translation, but the creative translation of emotions, concepts and the underlying message. The goal is to relate to the reader in the same way as readers of the source text.
Transcreation is very sought after for various marketing purposes, such as advertising, brochures, folders, web copy, slogans… Because this type of translation requires deep creativity from our translators, we charge an extra project fee. Request more info.
